PROJECT 003 / SPIKE

Ticker Dept. concept/IP case study

SPIKE

A character built to stick around.

SPIKE began with a silhouette: a dense field of rigid bristles, two half-lidded eyes, and almost no visible body. From that single character law, we built an identity, a content engine, and a product world.

01 / THE CHARACTER

FIRST READ: SPIKES. SECOND READ: CHARACTER.

The material is the anatomy. Thousands of rigid, flexible bristles create the silhouette, movement and emotion. The face stays restrained: half-lidded eyes, no mouth, minimal reaction.

02 / FINDING THE WORLD

POLISHED CHARACTER. UNPOLISHED WORLD.

SPIKE’s character rendering stays tactile and precise. The world around him does the opposite: ripped paper, photocopy grain, marker strokes, fluorescent color and imperfect surfaces.

03 / BUILDING THE BRAND

FROM CHARACTER TO IDENTITY.

The visual system turns SPIKE’s physical attitude into a graphic language built for posters, social, packaging, merchandise and the street.

Brand identity

04 / THE CONTENT ENGINE

THE WORLD REACTS TO SPIKE. SPIKE BARELY REACTS TO THE WORLD.

The comedy comes from one repeatable rule. SPIKE’s bristles create the problem; his expression barely changes. That gives the character a silent short-form system that can generate endless situations without relying on dialogue.

Content engine

05 / FROM CHARACTER TO PRODUCT

CHARACTER → CULTURE → PRODUCT

The same IP extends naturally into physical goods: SPIKE Energy, collectibles, plush, apparel, accessories, packaging and collaboration concepts. The goal is not to place a mascot on merchandise. It is to build a character with enough identity to carry product.

Product world

A SMALL CHARACTER. A BIGGER WORLD.

One silhouette became a character. The character became a system. The system became a world.
